Olympics and AI Art collide in my journal…

There have been a lot of Olympic headlines of late, and even as I’ve been away from most of the world, with limited internet and media access I have still been catching the highlights.

There are so many things I love about the Olympics… just one small aspect being that feeling that for a moment in time the athletes themselves are going above and beyond what even they have done before. Personal bests are being accomplished as world records are being broken… and most athletes will tell us that they run faster when a fierce competitor is nipping at their heels— that each of them is inspiring the other to greater speed.

When I gave my prompt to AI that resulted in these images I included the phrase “too amazing to be believed” in reference to what I wanted to see a silhouette of a gymnast doing, because I realized that captured my feelings both about their skills and accomplishments.

My prompt asked they be on a hard-packed sand beach, as I found myself intrigued by the idea of what it would be like if these gymnastic feats that can be accomplished safely in a gym with mats, no winds, etc., could be accomplished beside a tranquil sea.

Imagine Olympic level gymnastics beside a tranquil sea, beneath a star filled sky, Ala the Milky Way on full display. There are things we are unlikely to ever see in reality, for good reason, one poorly timed gust of wind is an injury in the making… but the imagery is beautiful to behold.

And, as this post shows, three different AI image generators went some pretty different directions with the same prompt.
